About Kerry

“Ask yourself about the kind of life you want:  What would you do day to day, and with whom and where?  Consider the life you have.

Do one thing today, however small, to close the gap between the two.”

-Maggie Smith, Keep Moving

Things can and do change

I see both individuals and couples who are facing a variety of struggles.  I deeply enjoy helping individuals to feel more confident and overcome challenges including low self-value, depression, anxiety, trauma, major life transitions, relationship issues, and in general, finding more satisfaction and pleasure in life.
I believe each individual has the capacity to create lasting positive change.  We do this through the active process of building meaning by connecting old knowledge and ways with new information and possibilities.  It can be such a powerful experience to slow down and really consider what has shaped how we understand ourselves, how we interpret the world, and how we treat others.
My work is based on attachment theory, mindfulness, emotionally focused therapy and the trauma lens of EMDR.  I work with couples and individuals experiencing emotional distress and/or experiencing a desire to deepen their understanding of themselves, live with more vitality, improve areas of communication, commitment, forgiveness, relationship building, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation.

My clinical training has included a range of experiences working with people of all ages in several settings, including the Veterans Health Administration, public schools, colleges, private health agencies, and in outdoor settings.  I hold two master’s degrees, one in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and one in Curriculum and Instruction Design.  My experience as an educator has been tremendously helpful in creating counseling experiences that are flexible and tailored to suit the specific needs of each client.

My training, experience, and commitment to lifelong learning all contribute to my ability to help you uncover your unique path towards increased fulfillment and connection.  In our work together, I will be mindful of your needs, considerate of your unique challenges, and unceasingly supportive of your goals.
